Bonding fasteners
BigHead fasteners were invented to solve a fastening problem that most traditional fasteners could not, to achieve a strong and efficient fastening in composite materials. Besides, bigHead can be used with plastics and other traditional materials also. A bigHead fastener comes from two main components: a head and a fixing element are welded together. The flat perforated head locks the product securely and spreads the load. Fixing element is generally a stud, a collar, a nut or a pin, but other fixing elements are available to find the best solution for the application. Finally we got an efficient and strong fastener.
A bigHead fastener can be surface mounted applying adhesive between fastener’s head and workpiece or fully embedded into laminated composite. The bond strength depends on the head diameter, the workpiece material, porosity of the surface and applied adhesive. In case of embedded mounting, lamination of the composite texture and its thickness also can have a significant influence.
A bigHead bonding fastener can be made of zinc plated mild steel or high performance 316 grade stainless steel. Over 400 standard bigHeads are available from catalogue. Special fastener can be also made from the combination of heads and fixing elements depending on required quantity.
